Gil Yefman
Gil Yefman’s first entrance into the world of Israeli art occurred at the end the 90’s with a joint project with his sister, the artist Rona Yefman, who documented in a photo series his journey to changing his sexual identity. Later, the focus was expanded to sexuality, otherness, and complex identities from the private body to creating representations and soft sculptural objects
Francesca (Home), 2010
This painting is part of a series of portraits of transgender people.
Francesca- wearing a tailored suit and heels, is positioned in the center between the industrial space and the landscape of her childhood in Italy.
She turns her gaze toward the viewer with a bodily gesture of exposure and concealment.
